Biography:

Laura Meier is a California Family Trust, Special Needs, and Elder Law Attorney. She helps families stop worrying about the ‘what ifs’ in life, and instead helps them prepare for and navigate major life events through proper estate planning.

Laura founded the Meier Law Firm back in 2010 from her kitchen table after leaving big law firm life behind. With a heart for helping others, she wanted to create a firm where families felt like they had a lawyer in the family they could turn to for sound legal advice, compassion, and care. Today, the Meier Law Firm has become one of the premier estate planning law firms in Orange County, with the highest online client ratings possible and an invaluable team of twelve committed to making our clients’ lives better. Laura is deeply grateful for the families who have trusted her and her team throughout the years.

Beyond counseling her private clients, Laura is the author of THE FAMILY NEST EGG (Diversion Books and Penguin Random House, 2021), GOOD PARENTS WORRY GREAT PARENTS PLAN (2014), and co-host of the IF LIFE WERE PERFECT podcast (Apple Podcasts New and Noteworthy Top Shows, 2019). She frequently speaks at universities, corporations, and non-profits on financial and estate planning topics.

Before founding the Meier Law Firm, Laura worked at a national law firm where she counseled California cities and agencies. She received her J.D. from a top law school—J. Reuben Clark Law School (BYU) (2003), and her B.A. in English from California State University Long Beach where she played on the Women’s Soccer Team (2000). Laura is an active member of Wealth Counsel and Elder Law Counsel—both nationally recognized programs for estate planning lawyers that provides top training and continuing education.

Most importantly, Laura and Josh are the proud parents of four great kids— Conrad, Jack, Kate, and Andrew. The Meier Family lives in Newport Beach, and actively supports the local community, including Laura’s years of service as a Board Member at the United Cerebral Palsy Orange County, a Faith Formation Teacher at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, and the District Four Representative on the Newport Beach Environmental Quality Affairs Committee. In 2018, Laura was awarded the U.S. Congressional Certificate of Recognition as a Community Hero for her public work in educating women in finance.
